Optery Review: Data Removal Plans, Pricing and Who It Fits

Search your own name and city. If you see a page with your address, age, relatives and phone number, you have found a data broker listing. Dozens of sites collect and sell this kind of profile, and each one has its own opt-out process.

Optery is a service that files those removal requests for you and keeps checking afterward. This review covers what it does, what the plans cost, who it suits and who should look elsewhere. Prices were checked 2026-09-30 against Optery’s own pages.

Optery review

What is Optery?

Optery is an automated personal data removal service. It scans data broker and people-search sites for your information, submits opt-out requests and scans again on a schedule. A data broker is a company that gathers personal details from public records and other sources and sells or publishes them.

Optery serves individuals, families and businesses. Its coverage is mainly the United States, so confirm support for your country on Optery’s site before you buy.

How much does Optery cost?

Optery sells four individual plans. Prices below are from Optery’s pricing page, checked 2026-09-30.

Plan Price Sites covered, per Optery Notes
Free Basic $0 Hundreds (visibility only) Exposure report with screenshots, repeated about every three months, plus self-service removal tools
Core $3.99 a month, or $39 a year ($3.25 a month) 380+ with Expanded Reach (150+ without) Monthly automated scans and removals, no human agent, one name and city per person
Extended $14.99 a month, or $149 a year ($12.42 a month) 560+ with Expanded Reach (330+ without) Adds an assigned privacy agent and quarterly removal reports with before-and-after screenshots
Ultimate $24.99 a month, or $249 a year ($20.70 a month) 635+ with Expanded Reach (405+ without) Unlimited custom removal requests across Optery’s 950+ site database (eligible after 30 days), priority email support

Two details to read carefully. Optery says Expanded Reach increases the number of sites covered, so compare the with and without numbers before you pick a plan. And the Ultimate plan adds unlimited custom removals, which let you ask Optery to go after profiles on sites outside its standard list.

Optery also sells business plans that charge per seat. The business pricing page uses a calculator with monthly and annual billing, so we are not quoting a figure here. Optery says its business trial runs up to 30 days with no credit card.

What are Optery’s key features?

Automated removals. On paid plans Optery submits removal requests and rescans monthly, based on Optery’s plan pages.

Screenshot proof. Optery says its exposure and removal reports provide live screenshots proving where it found and removed your profiles. This is the vendor’s claim. The practical point is that you can see what was found, not just a count.

Custom removals. The Ultimate plan allows unlimited custom removal requests for profiles Optery does not cover by default.

Privacy agent. Extended and Ultimate include an assigned privacy agent, according to Optery’s plan comparison. Core is fully automated.

Security. Optery’s site displays a SOC 2 Type 2 badge. SOC 2 is an audit standard for how a company handles data. This is the vendor’s claim, and we did not review a report.

What does Optery say about its reputation?

Optery’s own pages say PCMag named it Editors’ Choice in its category in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025, and that Consumer Reports ranked it the #1 most effective product in a recent study. Optery also says it holds two US patents for its search technology. These are the vendor’s claims about third-party reviews and its own IP. Check the reviewers’ pages for the current rankings before you rely on them.

Who should use Optery?

  • People who want to reduce their exposure without doing it by hand. The Free Basic report shows where you appear, and Core automates removal at a low price.
  • Families who want coverage across several people. Ask how profiles are counted on each plan before you buy, because Core is limited to one name and city per person.
  • People with a safety reason to be hard to find. Ultimate’s custom removals and agent support fit higher-stakes cases, though no service guarantees a clean result.
  • Small teams that want to reduce staff exposure. The business plans charge per seat and start with a free tier for up to 10 members.
  • Buyers who like proof. The screenshot reports suit people who want to check the work.

Who should skip Optery?

  • People outside its supported regions. Coverage is mainly the United States.
  • Anyone who wants one-time cleanup. Removals need repeating, because brokers republish data. Optery is a subscription for that reason.
  • People who expect a guarantee. No removal service can promise every profile stays gone.
  • Buyers who only want a free check. The Free Basic plan covers that. Paid plans matter once you want automated removals.
  • Teams that need a public business price. The business pricing page uses a calculator.

Questions to ask before you buy

  1. How many sites does each plan cover with and without Expanded Reach? The gap is large, so ask what the headline number includes.
  2. Is the plan per person or per household? Core is limited to one name and city per person.
  3. How often are scans and reports delivered? Get the schedule for your plan.
  4. What happens to sites Optery does not cover? Ask how custom removals work and whether they are limited by plan.
  5. How will I know a removal worked? Ask to see a sample removal report with screenshots.
  6. What data do I give Optery? It needs your name and details to search. Read its privacy terms.
  7. What are the renewal terms? Annual plans are cheaper per month. Read cancellation and refund rules.

The verdict

Optery is a sensible pick for people who want an automated, proof-based way to shrink their listings on people-search sites. The free tier lets you look before you pay, Core is cheap, and the higher tiers add agent help and custom removals.

Start with the Free Basic exposure report to see what is out there. Choose Core for low-cost, hands-off coverage. Consider Ultimate if you need the widest list and custom requests. Skip it if you live outside the regions Optery supports or want a guarantee no service can give.
