Most teams have more written content than video. Blog posts, webinars and slide decks sit in folders while short video does the work on social and in search. Turning one into the other by hand takes hours.
Pictory sells a shortcut: it turns text and long recordings into captioned videos. This review covers what Pictory does, how its plans are priced, who it suits and who should look elsewhere. Our analysis uses Pictory’s published pricing page, checked on 2026-10-05. You can see Pictory on the vendor’s site.

What is Pictory?
Pictory is an AI video creation platform. It turns scripts, articles, blog posts, presentations and long recordings into videos with captions, AI voiceover, stock media and your branding. You paste in text or a URL, review the draft scenes and adjust them.
Tech Yarde has selected Pictory to pilot avatar demo video production. The pilot was picked on 2026-10-04 and production has not started, so this review rests on Pictory’s published pages, not on that pilot.
How much does Pictory cost?
Pictory prices per month with a discount for annual billing. Figures below were checked against Pictory’s published pricing on 2026-10-05. Check the live page before you buy, because plans change. You can check Pictory pricing on the vendor’s site.
| Plan | Billed annually (per month) | Month to month | Video minutes per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free trial | $0 for 14 days, exports watermarked | n/a | 3 video projects on the trial |
| Starter | $25 | $29 | 200 |
| Professional | $35 | $59 | 600 |
| Team | $119 | $199 | 1,800, 3+ users |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom |
Video minutes are the minutes of video you can export each month, and previewing or sharing inside your account does not use them. On annual plans the full year’s minutes are allocated upfront, per Pictory’s pricing page. Two cautions. First, the trial exports are watermarked, so you cannot publish from it. Second, month to month costs noticeably more than annual on every paid tier, so decide your billing cycle before you compare.
What are Pictory’s key features?
Per Pictory’s published specs, these are the features that decide which plan fits.
Text and URL to video. Paste a script or an article link, and Pictory builds a video draft from it.
PowerPoint to video. Turn a slide deck into a narrated video.
Video summarization and highlight clips. Cut a long recording into shorter clips. This suits webinars and interviews.
Auto captions. Add captions automatically. Check accuracy on names and technical terms.
AI voiceover. Add synthetic narration to a draft, including ElevenLabs voices on higher plans, per the vendor. If you want to hear the options, explore Pictory.
Brand Kit. Save fonts, colors and logos so videos stay consistent.
AI avatars and voice cloning. Pictory lists these on higher plans. Confirm which tier includes them. Only clone voices you have the right to use.
API and integrations. Pictory lists a developer API plus Zapier and Make integrations, so you can automate parts of the workflow.
What does Pictory say about itself?
Pictory makes claims about speed and customer numbers. These are the vendor’s claims and we did not verify them. We cite no ratings or user counts.
Who should use Pictory?
- Content marketers with a back catalog. Articles and posts become video drafts.
- Webinar and podcast hosts. Highlight clips help with promotion.
- Small teams without a video editor. Template-driven drafts lower the bar.
- Course and training creators. Slide decks can become narrated videos.
- Agencies producing social video at volume. Team lists 1,800 minutes and 3+ users.
- Anyone who wants to test first. The 14-day trial lets you see the workflow. When ready, try Pictory.
Who should skip Pictory?
- Editors who want frame-level control. A traditional editor fits better.
- Anyone who needs to publish during a free trial. Exports are watermarked.
- Heavy producers on a tight budget. Minutes are capped per month.
- Brands that need fully custom motion graphics. Template drafts are not a design studio.
- Buyers who want a permanent free plan. The listing shows a trial, not a free tier.
Questions to ask before you buy
- How many video minutes do I need each month? Compare with 200, 600 and 1,800.
- Annual or month to month? The gap is large.
- Which plan includes avatars and cloning? Confirm in writing.
- How good is the draft for my content? Test with one real article.
- Which integrations do I need? Check Zapier, Make and the API.
- What stock media can I use commercially? Pictory states its clips, music and voiceovers are licensed for use in your videos; read the terms.
- What are the seat rules on Team? It lists 3+ users, and the minute allowance is shared across the team.
- What happens after the trial? Confirm billing, and note that Pictory does not offer refunds on paid subscriptions, per its pricing page.
The verdict
Pictory is a practical way to turn written and recorded content into short video without a full editing workflow. The plan steps are easy to read, and the feature set covers captions, voiceover and branding.
The catch is minute caps and how much of the workflow is template-driven. Count your monthly video minutes, then choose a tier. Start with the 14-day trial, then try Pictory on one real article. Pick Starter for light use, Professional for regular output and Team for shared production. Skip it if you need frame-level editing or custom motion work.
