A QR code on a menu, a poster or a shipping label looks permanent. It is not. If the code is static, the web address is baked into the pattern. Change the destination and you have to print a new one.
Uniqode sells the fix for that: dynamic QR codes, which keep one printed pattern and let you change where it points later. This review covers what Uniqode does, what it costs, where it fits and where it does not. Prices were checked on 2026-09-30 against Uniqode’s own pages.

What is Uniqode?
Uniqode is a QR code management platform for businesses. You create codes, brand them, point them at a page, and then track scans and edit the destination without reprinting. Uniqode says it was formerly called Beaconstac, and it also sells digital business cards under the Uniqode Cards name.
Two terms matter before you compare plans. A static QR code holds a fixed destination and cannot be edited after you make it. A dynamic QR code points to a short link that Uniqode controls, so you can change the destination and collect scan data. Uniqode says static codes are free and dynamic codes need a subscription.
How much does Uniqode cost?
Uniqode prices its QR code product in five tiers. The figures below are per month on annual billing, from Uniqode’s help center, checked 2026-09-30.
| Plan | Price per month (annual billing) | Dynamic QR codes | Analytics history | User seats |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | $9 | 15 | 60 days | 1 |
| Core | $49 | 250 | 90 days | 1 |
| Plus | $99 | 500 | 180 days | 3 |
| Business+ | $399 | 2,000 | Lifetime | 5 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom |
Uniqode’s help center says annual billing is the default and monthly billing is available on request. It lists a free trial with no credit card required, a 30-day refund window for new paid customers, and auto-renewal on by default. Check the current trial length on the plan page before you sign up.
Uniqode Cards, the digital business card product, lists a free tier and a per-user team plan. Check the cards page for current numbers, since the figure depends on seats.
One limit to plan around: if you downgrade, Uniqode’s help center says you must delete any codes above the new plan’s cap.
What are Uniqode’s key features?
Based on our review of Uniqode’s published specs, these are the parts that decide whether a plan fits.
Editable destinations. Dynamic codes let you change the target page after printing. This is the core reason to pay.
Scan analytics. Uniqode says it reports by location, device, time and campaign. Analytics history grows with the plan, from 60 days on Essential to lifetime on Business+.
Bulk generation. Uniqode lists bulk creation starting on Essential, plus folders, tags and role-based permissions for managing thousands of codes.
Integrations and API. The help center lists API access and integrations from Core upward. Uniqode’s homepage names Meta, HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Analytics and Zapier.
Lead capture. Uniqode describes forms and landing pages that turn a scan into a lead, with CRM hand-off. The help center places forms on Plus and above.
Team controls. Seats start at one and rise to three on Plus and five on Business+. SSO (single sign-on, one login managed by your company) is listed as an option on Plus and included on Business+.
Compliance. Uniqode lists SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR and ISO 27001. These are the vendor’s statements. If your security team needs proof, ask for the current reports.
What does Uniqode say about its scale?
Uniqode’s homepage says it serves more than 50,000 businesses and has processed 204 million QR scans. Both are the vendor’s claims, and we did not verify either number independently.
Who should use Uniqode?
- Marketers running printed campaigns. Posters, packaging, flyers and event signage all benefit from a destination you can change after printing.
- Restaurants, retailers and venues with changing menus or offers. One printed code can point to this month’s page.
- Teams that need reporting. Scan analytics and CRM connections suit anyone who has to show what a campaign produced.
- Regulated businesses. The listed HIPAA and SOC 2 claims are a reason to put Uniqode on a vendor-review shortlist, pending proof.
- Agencies and multi-location brands. Bulk creation, folders and permissions matter once you manage hundreds of codes.
Who should skip Uniqode?
- Anyone who only needs a QR code that never changes. Static codes are free, including on Uniqode, and the free tier is enough for a business card or a one-time flyer.
- Very small users who need more than 15 dynamic codes. Essential caps at 15, and the next step up is $49 a month.
- Teams that need many seats cheaply. Seats are limited on every published tier: one, one, three and five.
- Buyers who want long analytics history on a low plan. Lifetime history is listed only on Business+ at $399 a month.
Questions to ask before you buy
- How many dynamic codes will I need in 12 months? Count campaigns, locations and products. The cap moves from 15 to 250 to 500 to 2,000.
- Will I print codes that must still work in three years? Ask what happens to a dynamic code if you cancel or downgrade.
- How long is the trial and what does it include? Confirm the current length and which features are locked.
- Do I need custom domains, SSO or forms? The help center ties these to Plus and above, with some as options. Confirm which are included at your price.
- Which reports will my security team ask for? If you rely on the compliance list, request the certificates.
- What does annual billing lock me into? Annual is the default, with a 30-day refund window for new paid customers. Read the renewal terms.
The verdict
Uniqode is a solid fit for businesses that print QR codes on things they cannot easily reprint and want scan data afterward. The pricing is clear, the tiers are easy to read, and the feature ladder makes sense: editing first, then analytics and integrations, then team controls.
Choose Essential if you run a handful of campaigns. Choose Core if you need analytics depth and API access. Choose Plus or Business+ if a team shares the account. Skip paid plans entirely if your codes never change, because the free static option does the job.
