ManyChat Review: Pricing and Features for Growing Businesses

Manychat review

If your business lives in the DMs, you already know the problem. The same five questions land forty times a day, a live offer expires while you are packing orders, and the follower who asked about price at 9pm bought from someone else by morning.

Manychat is built for that gap. It automates Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp and TikTok conversations so common questions, lead capture and follow-ups happen without you typing the same reply again. This review covers what Manychat does, what it costs and who should skip it. Figures are from manychat.com/pricing, checked 2026-10-04, with the plan structure, channel list and overage rates re-confirmed on the live pricing page on 2026-10-05. Readers have offers waiting before they spend anything: our main link takes 30% off your first 3 months of Manychat, and Pro has two stronger deals covered in the pricing section below.

What is Manychat?

Manychat is a chat marketing platform. You build automated flows that greet followers, answer FAQs, collect emails and phone numbers, send links and tag contacts based on what they do. Per Manychat’s pricing page, it works across Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, TikTok, Telegram, Email and SMS, and it is aimed at creators, ecommerce sellers and small businesses that sell through social conversations. Manychat describes itself as the number one Instagram automation platform and an official Meta Business Partner, and says it also works as a partner with TikTok. Those are the vendor’s own claims.

It is not a full CRM and it is not an ad platform. It sits between the social app and your store or list, turning comments and DMs into structured conversations.

How much does Manychat cost?

Manychat prices by Active Contacts. An Active Contact is one person you interact with in a monthly billing period, counted once no matter how many messages you exchange. Prices below are per month; the annual figure is the monthly equivalent when billed annually, and Manychat says annual billing saves up to 30%. Prices exclude tax, and the final price depends on your billing country.

Plan Monthly billing Annual billing (per month) Active Contacts per month Notes
Free $0 $0 25 No credit card required
Essential $17 $14 250 Entry paid tier
Pro $39 $29 2,500 The tier most growing sellers land on
Business $99 $69 7,500 Priority support
Advanced $199 $139 25,000 Priority support

The Free plan needs no credit card, and Essential and Pro can be test-driven free for 14 days, per Manychat’s pricing page.

Going over your contact limit does not shut your automations off. Manychat keeps them running and charges an overage fee per additional Active Contact. On monthly billing, that fee is $0.10 per extra contact on Essential, $0.05 on Pro, $0.025 on Business and $0.004 on Advanced; annual billing rates are lower. So a growing audience raises your bill gradually rather than forcing an instant upgrade, but a viral month still costs real money.

Now the reader offers, because they change the math on Pro. Through our links you can get your first month of Manychat Pro free, or 50% off your first 2 months of Pro. The main link carries 30% off your first 3 months across plans. If you are testing Pro seriously, the free month is the cheapest way to run a real campaign before you commit.

What are Manychat’s key features?

Per Manychat’s site, these are the features that decide which tier fits.

Automated DM flows. Build step-by-step conversations for Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp and TikTok that answer, qualify and route people.

Keyword and comment triggers. Per Manychat, a comment or keyword can start a flow, which is the mechanic behind comment-a-keyword posts.

Lead capture. Collect email addresses and phone numbers inside the chat and tag contacts for follow-up.

Broadcasts and campaigns. Send scheduled messages to your contact list as part of a flow or campaign.

One inbox across channels. Conversations from Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, TikTok, Telegram, Email and SMS are managed in one place, per Manychat.

Active Contact pricing that scales. Your tier follows how many people you actually interact with each month, with overage per extra contact instead of a hard stop.

If your buyers live on one channel only, a lower tier may do. To test a first flow without paying, start with a free month of Pro.

Who should use Manychat?

  • Creators who sell through Instagram. Comment triggers and DM flows turn posts into leads.
  • Ecommerce sellers with repetitive DM questions. Shipping, sizing and discount questions automate well.
  • Coaches and course sellers. Lead capture and follow-up flows fit launch-style selling.
  • Small teams drowning in one inbox. Even the Free plan beats answering everything by hand.
  • Businesses on WhatsApp and Messenger too. Multi-channel flows reach buyers where they already message.
  • Anyone who wants to test before paying. The Free plan needs no card, Essential and Pro have 14-day trials, and our link makes the first month of Pro free.

Who should skip Manychat?

  • Businesses that do not sell through social. If your buyers email or call, a chat tool solves nothing.
  • Anyone who expects it to replace a CRM. Manychat captures and tags contacts. It is not your system of record.
  • Very large contact lists on a budget. Past 25,000 Active Contacts a month you are at the top published tier, and overage still applies per extra contact.
  • People who will not maintain flows. Automations go stale. Prices, links and offers need updating.
  • Anyone uncomfortable with platform rules. You are automating inside Meta and TikTok products. Their rules govern what you can send.

Questions to ask before you buy

  1. How many Active Contacts do I actually have? Your tier is set by people interacted with per month, not your follower count.
  2. Which channels matter? Instagram only, or WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, Email and SMS as well?
  3. What will I automate first? Name the three questions your inbox repeats daily.
  4. What happens in a spike month? Overage runs per additional Active Contact, from $0.10 on Essential down to $0.004 on Advanced (monthly billing).
  5. Annual or monthly? Annual billing saves up to 30% per the pricing page, but locks you in.
  6. Which reader offer fits my test? A free month of Pro, 50% off 2 months of Pro, or 30% off 3 months.
  7. Who owns the flows after setup? Someone on your team has to keep them current.
  8. Am I inside the platform’s messaging rules? Check the current rules for promotional sends before you broadcast.

The verdict

Manychat is a solid pick for businesses that genuinely sell in the DMs. The Free plan and the Essential and Pro trials make it cheap to test, the tier ladder is published in full, and the jump from Essential to Pro is where most growing sellers will land.

The catch is contact math. Your cost follows how many people you interact with each month, and overage is priced per contact, so model a busy month, not a quiet one. The reader offers soften the start: get your first month of Pro free, or take 50% off your first 2 months of Pro if you want a longer runway. Skip it if your customers do not reach you through social at all.
